mpc: 21 Productivity growth ­ which had been unusually low in 2005 ­ had recently increased, reflecting both the pickup in GDP growth and the weakening of employment growth. Regular pay growth had edged up in January but had been more than offset by a negative contribution from lower bonus payments. The wage settlement data so far available in 2006 on a matched sample basis, appeared to be somewhat lower than a year earlier, although this particularly reflected a few settlements in the services sector.
